We’re pleased to announce that the 2025 Arizona Riders of the Year are Amy Engelhard (Startline Collective pb Project Save Them All) and Tom Preller (Supernatural Grocers Cycling Team)!
Amy Engelhard is known in Tucson and Southern Arizona for her work in getting more women involved in the sport by keeping the women’s shootout going and other women’s coached rides, hosting women’s skill clinics, coordinating women’s certification times at the velodrome, and creating a team- Startline Collective pb Project Save Them All- to get more women to races.
Tom Preller is known for making the long drive from Page, AZ, every weekend, for his team-name puns, and for cracking jokes before and after races. Don’t let the friendly demeanor fool you! Tom will do everything in his power to make the race as hard as possible. After all, he didn’t drive down from Page to spin around. Be on the lookout- there may be a race in Page soon.
The Rider of the Year is an annual award given to an Arizona rider (one man and one woman) based on their contributions to the sport. At the end of each year, the ABRA board looks for riders who:
-Improve the sport through mentorship, coaching, or team leadership, or
-Are dedicated to the sport through attendance and creating a positive atmosphere at races, or
-Are giving back by organizing events (clinics, camps, races)
